NEW YORK,
April 15, 2002 — A new website launched by New York-based SpanSIG –a
local nonprofit group of Spanish<>English language professionals—offers
an online, searchable directory of translators and interpreters, as well
as a wealth of information and resources for members and visitors alike.
Located at http://spansig.org,
the new website has links to original articles published in Apuntes,
online dictionaries, professional and cultural organizations,
information on conferences and seminars, and much more.
"We believe that our members and visitors will appreciate the
convenience and comprehensive quality of the new site," said
Leticia Molinero, president of SpanSIG and editor of Apuntes, the group’s
bilingual quarterly journal. "InTradES, our online directory of
US-based English<>Spanish language professionals, will offer
potential clients a quick way to find the translators or interpreters
they need for different types of projects."
ABOUT SPANSIG-APUNTES
SpanSIG stands for the Spanish Special Interest Group of the New York
Circle of Translators which, in turn, is affiliated with the American
Translators Association. Since 1988, SpanSIG has organized seminars,
workshops and lectures of interest to language professionals. Apuntes,
the group’s bilingual quarterly journal, focuses on translation and
interpretation issues, as well as the relationship between English and
Spanish.
SpanSIG encompasses not only translators and interpreters, but also
welcomes all language professionals committed to excellence in
communications: writers, editors, journalists, advertisers, educators,
and others.
ABOUT INTRADES DIRECT
InTradES stands for Intérpretes y Traductores de Español (Spanish
Interpreters and Translators), the name of our new searchable electronic
directory. Only US-based professionals are admitted to this directory,
in an effort to assure direct communication and greater cohesiveness in
our understanding of terminology and cultural issues.
The InTradES directory gives users of Spanish<>English
translation and interpretation services a US-focused directory organized
by subject matter. The main benefit for users of our services is having
direct access to these professionals, thus eliminating higher costs and
communication problems.
